This week was more organization within our pipeline. I worked on making the full scenes in 3D. Currently the school is entirely done being referenced and just needs UVs.
We have three main sets being the schools interior, the home interior, and the village. The village will be cut down for each shot, but right now we have a main scene that has the entire village laid out as well as the path to the school, and the school. And to elaborate by "cut down" I mean we are going to only be using assets that are in each shot. So for example, the field shots are going to have the village and the school in the scene as that would be pointless. But, we do have a main scene we can breakdown into those smaller sets.
It is a massive scene, and Brett and I have briefly talked about render boxes. I have no idea how to enable it, but I'm still working figuring that out. The scene is so big it took almost 10 minutes to open. It had no issues, there's just a lot in there.
The only part of the main scene that is missing is the field. One other thing to mention that has been incredibly frustrating is that the original scenes with their cameras are completely unusable. The MAYA scenes has references that have been renamed and moved around and I simply cannot find them.
So instead, I am going to be working on making all of the cameras again. Luckily, since we have the animatic, I know where we are setting these cameras. With these new cameras it will also allow me to add in the new shots we are going to add. Caleb is also going to be animating alongside me adding these cameras.
The other issue is the textures on the school aren't properly showing. I believe it may just be a file path error, but I haven't looked into that just yet.
The next scene that I have been working on is the home interior. Since everything was modeled previously it hasn't taken very long. I did however notice some assets that were assigned were never made. Because of that I will be working on doing those assets. This includes the table, the shelf, the curtains, and another small table. You can see them blocked out in the images below, except the smaller table.
And since I have to model that, I am going to make more models in there. And of course...as always I will be working on UVs.
I also would like to mention I am probably going to reiterate a lot of these assets so they match each other much better. I will be making a fast concept sketch of this by next week as well so I can work on blending styles. Mostly the couch, the wardrobe, and the bookshelf is what I am going to be looking at.
That's all
