Guess what I did this week? You guessed it, cameras AGAIN. Well that in combination with production pipeline cleanup.
My progess with the cameras looks like nothing has moved along for the most part, however, making the cameras helped me see where our pipline needed help.
Recently, we have had a bit of an issue with communicating. It's not really anyone's fault, just we suck at it and A LOT has been happeing this semester. Personal issues mostly, but with those issues we just haven't been saying what we are doing directly to each other. Our group does get quite a lot of work done, but with that it has made it easy for us to just live our own little world. Which of course will cause technical issues. So, I took the time this past week cleaning up our pipeline in a way that forces us to communicate without us directly communicating.
Let me explain, our group REALLY likes to check off boxes and be told where to work. We are all good with direction from others and actualy crave it. We like feedback, even if it's minimal. Vaildation is everything. With that being said, I took that "checkbox" thing literally.
I made a sheet where eveyone can actually check off boxes and assign themselves and other (with consent of course) to a specific part in the "camera pipeline." Now, this sheet is meant for the cameras directly but, cameras are in scenes with sets, so everything needs to work.
There's more scenes, but you get the gist. The instructions are kinda obvious but sometimes we all need to get reminded what we are doing. I sure do. Below that we have a chart that has each scene and shot. I will probably end up adding more instructions, but that is for if we run into any issues that need better instructions.
I also noticed some assets weren't done for the home so I did those really quickly as well.
Those I have also fixed a few issues with geometry, making sure everything is to scale. The walls definetly need to fixed but for layout it works.
Here is one of the shot I have done. I have a majority of the second scene's cameras done, but those are being edited currently.
With that being said, our flow has already improved with this new sheet. All assets are up to date and all references are as well. The filed progress is going great and Aelma made a demo on how she is texturing so we can all mimic that next week. The new bird model is almost done except UVs and the rigs are also going pretty smoothly. We are still working on audio with Nick and with their access to the foley library that the school has we have even more resources to use.
We also are planning on making a "asset pack" of folliage and rocks so we can just drag and drop them into the scenes so it doesn't look flat.
That's all!
