After my team and I re-discussed our scenes and shots, Aelma and I re-addressed our sets and camera. After I re-referenced the main village, Aelma went ahead and made all the cameras. Now that we have these camera, we can rework our animatic.
Here is the new layout of village!
Here is an example of the scene layout in MAYA that I haev overlayed with 2D animation. This is it before the animation is added.
With that being worked on, I am going to start implementing 2D illustrations over our 3D animatic so that there is a better understanding of whats happening.
With that being said there has been development on the school. Since the film has shifted and focuses on a school rather than the entire village, we have done some visual research on what we want to go for in terms of style for this building. Bret mentioned something really smart about making something more significant about the school so that there's a reason that our main character knows it's the school.
These are some of the reference images found by Caleb and I.
With these images Bianca has started on some concepts and I am jumoping into that as well. Since this process is similar to the other assets and models we have made I won't go into too much depth. A good look dev is really what we are aiming for. With a lot of our scenes re-written and re-shot, we have actually figured out a lot of solutions for our pipeline. For example, we discussed making each main scene area a seperate file, even though it all technically takes places in a pretty small area. The village itself is one file, the school will be one file, the home interior is one file, etc. etc.
Shots that include multiple "locations," for insatnce, a shot that shows part of the village and part of the mustard fields, we are just going to comp after everything has been rendered. Since a lot of our textures are stuff are just painted on, this actually won't be too hard of a process, especially with the style of our film.
Moving forward, hopefully it will go quickly and efficently!
